The ultimate American roadtrip part 1

It´s been about a year now since the day I booked my ticket to San Francisco, California which was the start of our coast to coast road trip and hands down one of the most amazing experiences of my life so far.

Our trip started from the Bay area. I had few days to explore the area before we headed off to Los Angeles. In San Francisco the most memorable sight was the view from the top of Twin Peaks.

The drive to LA was about 6-7 hours with a few stops on the way.

We drove into LA during sunset with Miley Cyrus´ Party in the USA blasting in the car, that's when life felt pretty damn good. During the few days we had in LA we checked out Hollywood boulevard, some shops and pretty nice second hand stores on Melrose, my absolute favorite was Crossroads Trading, very affordable and well picked stuff logically presented. I ended up buying a $150 dress that had never been worn for 20 bucks amongst other pieces.. We also spent a day in a super nice 24h spa called Wi spa in Koreatown.

After LA we headed towards Las Vegas, during the drive to Vegas we spent a night in a place called Barstow which was about 2 hours from LA. The next morning we drove the remaining 2,5 hours to Las Vegas.

Vegas wasn't too interesting for me as I was underage in the US at the time so we just strolled down the Strip for a while and as it was hot as hell we soon headed back to the car and continued the drive towards area 51, Nevada.

We reached the desert area by the same evening but we couldn't actually find area 51 then, or we were hesitant to do so as we knew it would soon get dark outside. So we drove into the desert and just parked at an intersection for a while to take in the gorgeous sunset and view.

After getting lost in the dark somewhere we later learned was someones scary ranch you definitely should not get lost in if you want to, well basically not get shot (!!!) We continued the drive to a Motel called Little A'Le'inn in Rachel along the Extraterrestial highway which we learned was also featured in the movie Paul!

Have to say it felt a little creepy to drive up to somewhere in pitch black darkness where there was a blinking "UFO" and not much else in the yard. But when we got in the people were so lovely and accommodating that it ended up being one of the most memorable stays during the trip. Definitely stay there a night if you are around the area 51.
In the morning we had breakfast at their restaurant/bar and then continued our trip with the goal of actually finding the Area 51...

... and we did! We drove up to the entrance to see the warning signs and a surveillance car in the area so we were very careful with our moves. The desert was really beautiful there.

The next bigger stop on our way was Salt lake city, after about 4 hours and an encounter with the police we took a break from driving in Springdale to spend the night there, right by Zion national park which is an absolute must see!!
